What is your favorite APU memory? My favorite APU memory was when I first started attending APU in the Fall of 2015. I was nervous and excited for my first day of class. I was expecting to show up to class and sit through a boring lecture. However, Professor Nora had us introduce ourselves and we went outside and had an amazing class in the grass while soaking up the last of the summer sunshine. That’s when I knew I was in the right place.
What is going to be your next adventure post-APU? I was accepted into the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology (MSCP) program at APU so I will be working on that after I graduate. I will start the MSCP program in the Spring of 2018 and I am so excited to learn even more about psychology. I ultimately want to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the State of Alaska and work with the Alaska Native Community.
Any words of wisdom for students working on completing their degrees? Don’t forget to practice self-care when working on completing your degree. Times can get tough and frustrating. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help to peers and the professors at APU. What’s so amazing about APU is the amount of support received and you’re not alone, you’re apart of a cohort that is rooting for you to succeed. Also, don’t wait until the last minute to complete assignments, start them right away and work on them little by little so you don’t stress yourself out to meet deadlines.
