What’s your academic background?
I have a B.A. in Liberal Studies from our very own Alaska Pacific University. My time as a student at APU prepared me for an M.A. in Social and Bioethics at Yale University. I am also a registered nurse and have a B.S.N. from the University of Alaska Anchorage.
Who inspires you?
People who care for others in big and small ways.
What was the best concert you ever attended?
Rufus Wainright, a few times over.
Where’s your favorite place in the world?
My loving and welcoming childhood home.
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
The Lorax.
What’s the last book you read?
The ABCs of Biology (in preparation for toddler nap time).
What’s your favorite movie?
The Thin Man detective series from the 1930s – 40s. I even named my dog Asta, as a nod to the pup in the films.
What are you currently watching on Netflix?
I am embarrassed to admit this, but I just finally finished The Office.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
Peter Sagal during a live taping of Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me or Christina Koch in space.
If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
Travel feels a bit farfetched right now. I am thrilled to explore new trails and spots in our Alaskan backyard.
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I have spent some quality time in a gross anatomy lab and am pretty darn good with a bone saw.
If you were a crayon, what color would you be?
Seafoam green.
Who is your least favorite superhero?
I (un)fortunately don’t know enough about superheroes to dislike any one of them in particular. I sure do like Wonder Woman, though.
