Please tell us about your degree and what you are studying.
I will be earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences with a concentration in Healthcare Management. I have worked in healthcare my whole adult life, and I felt it was time to further my education to advance in my field.
Why did you choose APU?
What attracted me to APU was their affiliation, recognition, and promotion of Native American values and traditions. I really appreciated that much of my learning had my cultural values integrated at some level This is conducive to my overall career objective of serving the Native community in a healthcare setting. I also appreciated the student-teacher ratios that would allow me to build relationships with my professors instead of feeling like just a number.
What was your favorite aspect of studying at APU?
My favorite aspect of studying at APU was the relationships I built with other students and faculty. I always felt listened to, and I always felt like my peers and professors were accessible and supportive.
Reflecting on your time at APU, what stands out as the most memorable or impactful part of your campus life or learning experience?
I may sound like a broken record, but I cannot stress enough how amazing the faculty is. They were all always so invested in my success, and they made it feel so personal. I had attended a bigger university prior to transferring to APU, and I never felt a sense of community there. APU has a special way of making you feel like a part of their community.
What are your post-graduation plans? For now, I am going to take a well-deserved break! However, in a couple years I’d like to come back to APU and complete their Master’s degree program
