One of Alaska Pacific University’s defining and foundational characteristics is its commitment to providing all students, regardless of income, access to a first-rate education. Fulfilling this promise would not be possible without the close-knit community of faculty, staff, alumni, and donors who are committed to supporting our institutional mission.
This February, APU’s alumni relations kicked off a new donor appreciation event, Friends of APU, to recognize individuals and businesses that have made exceptional philanthropic efforts to support the university and help us deliver on that commitment.
Among the honorees at this year’s Friends of APU event were Harry and Elisabeth Kachline, who have been true decades-long champions of education within the APU community and beyond. Their contributions exemplify the founding spirit of APU and the Denali Society, an organization comprised of individuals and businesses whose support has had a profound and personal impact on APU.
The Kachlines’ and Denali Society’s generous support has helped to realize APU’s collective vision that education should be available to everyone, as opposed to being, in the Kachlines’ own words, “Hoarded and kept locked away.” By supporting APU, they have provided opportunities firsthand for students to achieve their dreams and to become leaders in their communities.
