Dr. David Scheel, a professor of marine biology at APU, has researched the behavior and ecology of octopuses for over twenty-five years. His new book “Many Things Under a Rock: The Mysteries of Octopuses” was released June 13 and chronicles much of his decades-long obsession. The book explores awe-inspiring and new scientific developments, accounts of his research, and stories that recall first-hand encounters with octopuses and his relationship with the mysterious and fascinating animals.
Scheel held his first author event and reading for the book on June 14 at Writer’s Block Bookstore & Cafe in Anchorage.
His next upcoming author event is July 8 at 1 p.m. at Fireside Bookstore in Palmer, Alaska. “Many Things Under a Rock: The Mysteries of Octopuses” is available now at local bookstores and online through the publisher W.W. Norton’s website.
