In my studies, I have focused on domestic violence with an emphasis in batterer intervention programs, post-intervention groups for abusive men, survivors’ experiences, the advocacy community, quantitative methods, and survey development. I have also had the opportunity to work in the health field at Providence on projects related to physician-patient communication and pregnancy. I have growing interests in program evaluation and adult friendships.
Although I teach statistics, I am also interested in qualitative and mixed-methods approaches. Simply put, I love data! I love working with students, especially hearing about their areas of interest and how they can use research methods and statistics to facilitate understanding of their phenomena. I learn so much from students, and there is nothing more satisfying in teaching than seeing a student have an epiphany of understanding when all the pieces have fallen into place – especially in statistics!
I love just about any form of music, from indie to opera, live theater, film, cooking, traveling, and camping. I aspire to paint more often, play the piano, and attempt wheel-thrown ceramics for the third time.
