• B.S. Environmental Science with a minor in Mathematics for Environmental Science, Alaska Pacific University
I moved to Anchorage in 2012 to pursue a bachelor’s degree at APU. I was drawn to the incredible opportunities to learn about the natural environment through hands-on experiences. I earned a Bachelor of Science in environmental science with a minor in mathematics for environmental science and was president of the Nordic ski club during my time at APU. After graduating, I spent spent two years serving as the Executive Director of the Wrangell Mountains Center in McCarthy, AK, a nonprofit organization committed to connecting people with wildlands through art, science, and education. In 2020, I graduated from Dartmouth College with a Master of Science in earth science. My thesis research focused on cosmogenic nuclide surface-exposure dating of glacial deposits in the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda. This work was a part of a larger effort aimed at understanding glacier and climate change in the high-altitude tropics since the last ice age.
I began teaching at APU in fall 2020, and I currently teach mathematics, physics, and other natural science courses. One of my favorite courses to teach is Natural History of Alaska, which is a broad introduction to Alaska including ecology, geology, human history, and more.
