Hello! My name is Cheryl Ongtowasruk (UNG-too-WAZH-ruck). I am an admissions counselor at Alaska Pacific University. I just joined the APU admissions team, but I am excited to be a part of an organization that aims to honor the Indigenous people in Alaska.
I am Inuit and grew up on the Seward Peninsula in northwestern Alaska. Traditionally, I am from the Kiŋikmiut (“people of the high place”) and Iġaluiŋmiut (“fish river people”). My family lived in Nome for a majority of my upbringing. I recently earned a Master of Arts in Education and am looking forward to helping others begin their higher educational journey.
If you’d like any information about or assistance with the admissions process, please feel free to reach out to me and I would be more than happy to help!
