What is a University, and Why Does it Matter?

Please join the Cardinal Newman Chair of Catholic Theology for a presentation on the nature of the university by Dr. Mark Clark, Ordinary Professor of Church History and John C. and Gertrude P. Hubbard Chair of Medieval Church History and Theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Dr. Clark specializes in the history of medieval theology and in particular the Bible and theology during the second half of the twelfth century. He has also done extensive work on medieval textbooks, and is working on various editions and publications centering on how the medieval university came to develop out of the cathedral schools. He is a chief editor for several series, at Toronto and at CUA, centering on texts and studies related to Scholastic thought and the development of the schools, universities, and curricula of the High Middle Ages.”
