New Student Orientation – Day 3

Congratulations and Welcome to APU! We strongly encourage all new students to attend Orientation from Thursday, August 19 to Sunday, August 22. Whether you are living on-campus or are a new student living in or near Anchorage, we would love to have you join us for the in-person Orientation. We look forward to seeing everyone and welcoming you into the APU community.

8:00 am – 10:00 am – Shopping Trips
Atwood Center Courtyard
Are you missing something in your room or looking to buy new stuff? Join Campus Life on shopping trips to Walmart, Target and more. Please RSVP for the shopping trips by telling an RA or Orientation Leader that you are interested.

10:30 am – 12:00 pm – Brunch
McMillen Student Center, Atwood Center, 2^nd Floor
Brunch is offered to students who are on a meal plan. Meals available for purchase for non-students.

12:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Service Learning Day
Students will have an opportunity to help out with activities and projects. Please RSVP for one of the two options below by telling an Orientation Leader that you are interested.
OPTION 1: Kellogg Campus Farm
Visit APU’s Kellogg Campus located in Palmer, AK and help out around the farm. Transportation will be provided leaving from Atwood Center at 12:00 pm.
OPTION 2: APU Main Campus
If you feel like spending more time on APU’s main campus, you can hang back with other students and learn more about our incredible trail system. Meet at the Atwood Center Courtyard at 12:00 pm.

5:00 pm – 6:30 pm – Dinner
McMillen Student Center, Atwood Center, 2^nd Floor
Dinner is offered to students who are on a meal plan. Meals available for purchase for non-students.

5:30 pm – 6:00 pm – Intro to AK Life
McMillen Student Center, Atwood Center, 2^nd Floor
A time to discuss the reality of living in Alaska with Campus Safety and Outdoor Programs. We will be introducing the APU SAFE app that all students are encouraged to download. Other topics to be covered include: wildlife, winter travel, trail etiquette and more!

7:00 pm – 9:00 pm – Pool Party
Moseley Sports Center
Bring your suit and hang out at the Moseley Sports Center! We will have fun pool activities followed by watching a movie while floating around on giant pool toys. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.
