Environmental Leadership Summit

October 2 @ 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Free

The Environmental Protection Agency and the White House Initiative on Asian-American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islanders are gathering a leadership summit at Alaska Pacific University. EPA has asked the White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI) to collaborate on this Environmental Leadership Summit to provide AA and NHPI community leaders and potential applicants the opportunity to learn more about historic funding opportunities and technical assistance made available through President Biden’s Investing in America agenda and the Inflation Reduction Act, while also developing and deepening community-based partnerships. Since the National Association of Pasifika Organizations (NAOPO) is bringing together community partners from across the nation for their Pacific Health Gathering in Anchorage, Alaska on September 29 th to October 1 st , EPA will host its Summit the day after, on October 2 nd , to ensure the EPA Summit is accessible to AA and NHPI communities. Anchorage is an ideal location due to its high Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, American Indian, and Alaska Native population, and high rates of leadership in climate justice.
