Water Aerobics (year-round schedule) Taught by Debbie Little Dog
This low-impact class is performed in shallow water and is designed to improve joint stability, coordination, heart health, and strength. The class will incorporate cardio and strength, using water dumbbells, noodles, and other resistance tools. Whether you have a need for a workout that is gentle on your joints, or you are just looking for a workout that is fun and challenging, then this class is for you!

Class Descriptions
Swim Instructor course (Certification)
Class dates: February 10 (5:30 – 8:30 pm); 11, 12 & 18, 19 (11 am – 5 pm)
Tryouts: January 28th (11:30 am – 1:30 pm)
Learn how to teach American Red Cross Water Safety education and Swim lessons to all ages, abilities. This 32-hour course will introduce Swim Instructor candidates to the teaching strategies used to meet the learning needs of swim students; plan and prepare lessons plans, drills and games that encourage students to learn how to swim; and learn how to effectively communicate with participants and parents on stroke assessment feedback.

Lifeguard course
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguard course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.
The course consists of approx. 29 hours of a blended-learning style of instruction; the online content takes 7 hours to complete, and the in-person skills takes 19-21 hours. Lifeguard candidates need to pass a tryout before registering for this program. Upon passing the tryout, a $25 registration fee plus full class fee are applied to the candidates. They will receive an email from American Red Cross, to start their online class portion. The instructor will issue a syllabus and a digital version of the Lifeguard participant manual.
Tryout requirements:
Swim 300 yards continuously using a combination of Front Crawl and Breaststroke, then complete a timed brick retrieval and a 2 minute tread without using hands.
