At the November meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), the Business Administration Department’s application for candidacy status was granted. By pursuing this business education specific accreditation, the department is demonstrating APU’s commitment to quality education in Business Administration and Management at the undergraduate (BA-BAM) and graduate levels (MBA, EMBA) and at the undergraduate level in Accounting (BA-AC).
From the IACBE’s website:
The IACBE is the leader in mission-driven and outcomes-based programmatic accreditation in business, and it exists for the purposes of advancing academic quality and excellence in business education throughout the world. It is the philosophy of the IACBE that academic quality and excellence in business education should be measured in terms of the overall level of performance of an academic business unit (department, division, school, college of business, etc.) relative to its mission.
As part of this process, we will be measuring our outcomes by evaluating how well our students are achieving both institutional goals and business department goals; this information will then be used for continuous quality improvement. Over the next several months, faculty and staff in the Business department will be busy collecting data and gathering documents in preparation for a candidacy visit by the accreditors. It is a rigorous process that has already produced results as faculty have evaluated course offerings and assessment tools. Congratulations to the Business Administration Department and APU!
