In August, APU formalized an agreement with EXCEL Alaska that allows both organizations to capture the educational synergies of co-location on our campus. Just like APU, EXCEL strives to give motivated students opportunities to realize their potential.
EXCEL Alaska brings with it a strong presence in the state as a federally recognized 501(c)3 with partners including:
- Kuspuk School District
- Lower Yukon School District
- Yupiit School District
- Kashunamiut School District
- Lower Kuskokwim School District
- Yukon Koyukuk School District
- Iditarod Area School District
As part of the agreement, EXCEL Alaska has leased space in Atwood South Dormitory to house their programs and rural high school students. The presence of EXCEL on the APU campus provides a first-hand connection to the APU community. This connection increases awareness of APU’s educational programming not only for EXCEL students but also with their home communities as they return and share about their experiences.
EXCEL students will be staying on the APU campus for various sessions throughout the year.
