Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
Born and raised in Alaska, I’m a 4th-generation Girdwood native now based in town for school. I hold a bachelor’s in Liberal Studies with a Marine and Environmental Science minor, and an associate’s in Business Administration. A passionate musician, I’ve played bass guitar, drums, and piano, while refining my vocal skills as part of the APU Ensemble for three semesters. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the backcountry and dancing whenever possible.
Why did you choose AP?
I returned to Alaska in June 2020 and decided to pursue my degree during the pandemic. While working as a nanny, I discovered Mosley when dropping off a child at swim camp. Driving onto campus felt like stepping into a new reality. That evening, I researched the university, realized the application period closed in two days, and quickly applied. When I received my acceptance, it felt like everything had aligned perfectly—I was exactly where I needed to be.
Please tell us about your degree and why did you choose that major?
As a young renaissance woman with diverse passions, I pursued a unique blend of studies in music, writing, science, and business. Rather than being confined by a single title, I let my curiosity guide me, adapting my major multiple times to align with my vision. With creativity, drive, and determination, I shaped my academic path to reflect what truly inspired me.
What was your favorite aspect of studying at APU?
My favorite part of undergrad has been the hands-on coursework. Professors encouraged us to personalize assignments and incorporate our passions, allowing me to create work I’m proud of while genuinely enjoying the process—even for required tasks.
Reflecting on your time at PAU, what stands out as the memorable or impactful part of your campus life or learning experience?
Sharing my art and performing with various iterations of my band has been a magical experience, driving me to grow in ways that words can’t fully capture.
What are your graduation plans?
This January, a month after graduation, I’ll begin my journey as a field team leader with FEMA Corps. Serving through AmeriCorps Southern Region, I’ll lead a team of incredible individuals, responding to natural disasters and emergencies to support those in need.
What is your favorite or most interesting thing you’ve learned in this last semester?
I’ve learned that I can accomplish anything with self-belief and determination. There’s no need to limit yourself—just set your goals and follow through.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
