The Alaska Pacific University Nordic Ski Center celebrated Rollerski Awareness Day on June 1 to promote rollerskiing and safety on Anchorage’s trails and roads, and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle for our community. The event featured a 50km rollerski around Anchorage’s Moose Loop, emphasizing the importance of trail awareness and visibility. APU Nordic Ski Center athletes demonstrated proper safety measures by wearing high-visibility clothing, helmets, and other protective gear. Following the rollerski, APU hosted a safety & Summer activity welcoming the skiers back to APU and offering tips and tricks on getting ready for a summer’s worth of fun and activity!
The event also serves as a fundraiser that supports APU Nordic Ski Center Elite Team and programs for the upcoming travel and race season. Thank you to the community for your pledges and support for the ski team! For those hoping to still donate, click here.
