Last week, Alaska Pacific University commemorated its historic Giving Day for 1,960 minutes from Friday, Oct. 13, extending into midday Saturday. This annual fundraiser celebrates the day classes commenced in Grant Hall at the former Alaska Methodist University in 1960.
Your unwavering support allowed us to garner nearly $12,000, which was distributed across several critical areas:
Annual Fund: Your contribution to this fund addresses our immediate requirements, from scholarships for deserving students to faculty resources and essential campus enhancements. It plays a pivotal role in refining the student experience at APU.
Nordic Ski Center: Your support fuels our mission to nurture world-class skiers and offer comprehensive athletic education for every age group. This includes initiatives like upgrading the Thomas Training Center on Eagle Glacier and prepping our University Elite Team for their racing season ahead.
Gould Opportunity Fund: In tribute to the university’s founder, Dr. Peter Gordon Gould, this fund ensures that every student, irrespective of their financial circumstances, can envisage a promising future at APU and beyond in Alaska.
Toni Lynn Sasek Fund and Kellogg Campus: Your generosity aids pivotal programs at our Palmer campus: the Kellogg FIELD School, which supplements homeschooling, our Spring Creek Farm producing fresh produce for the community, and our comprehensive outdoor and environmental graduate programs.
Shel ch’naq’ahnilu Fund: Supports the education of Indigenous students and promotes cultural activities and Indigenous initiatives at APU. Donations to this fund will help create a supportive environment for Indigenous students and provide them with the opportunities they need to succeed as future leaders.
Your contributions are indispensable in providing essential student scholarships and supporting APU. Without your support, the essence of APU would not be the same.
