Join us in-person to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, Monday, October 9, 2023. **The program is in development so please stay tuned.** Doors will open at 11:00am and lunch will begin at 11:30am in the Moseley Sports Center on campus. Together with our partners, this is the 7th year we gather with community to recognize the day’s importance of honoring our rich and beautiful histories tied to indigenous lands.
APU’s vision is to honor Alaska’s Indigenous heritage, exemplifying excellence, and preparing paths. As educators, APU acknowledges the Dena’ina people who have educated on the Anchorage municipal lands for thousands of years. The day truly aspires to compliment and build upon this vibrancy, and by gathering together as a community, it is an uplifting energy felt by all as APU aspires to educate the next generation’s leaders.
We hope you will spend the lunch hour with us and enjoy some soup and fry bread at no cost. There will be dance group performances and speakers. ASD is observing the holiday, for the first time this year, so please do bring your children. The program is focusing on the youth.
Information regarding parking, how to RSVP, the program and further details will be forthcoming. You won’t want to miss out on this year’s Indigenous Peoples Day!
