Anchorage, Alaska – Eight Alaska Pacific University (APU) athletes were recently nominated for the 2021-2022 Davis U.S. Cross Country Team, a key step to competing at the next Winter Olympics as part of Team USA.
The national team nominations were based on each skier’s rankings and results during the recently wrapped season. Rosie Brennan and Hailey Swirbul were both nominated for the A Team. Brennan made an early mark last season with back-to-back World Cup wins in December; she is just the fifth American woman to win a race on the World Cup. Swirbul earned her first World Cup podium this season, finishing third in the 10k freestyle.
APU’s Scott Patterson and Logan Hanneman were both nominated for the B Team following their successful seasons. Patterson finished strong at the World Championships, earning the best finish for the American men in decades in the 4x10k relay, while notching an individual 10th place in the 50K classic. Hanneman posted a career-best 9th place finish at the World Cup this past season.
Hannah Halvorsen, Luke Jager, Zanden McMullen, and Hunter Wonders were named to Team USA’s Development Team for the upcoming season as well.
Congratulations to the nominated skiers, and to all the members of the APU Elite Team skiers who successfully raced through the 2020/2021 season.
