Greetings from APU! Alaska Pacific University is dedicated to keeping the APU community, friends, and families healthy during this pandemic. To do this, we have made the difficult decision to make the Spring 2021 commencement ceremony a pre-recorded event. We know this is disappointing news, but an in-person event isn’t possible with local restrictions on gatherings and the logistics of an outdoor ceremony in May.
Our plan is to create a virtual event that celebrates your accomplishments and is accessible to all your friends and family. All Spring 2021 graduates will be invited to send us picture or a two- to three-minute video to be included in the commencement video. The videos will be similar to our regular commencement format where each graduating student is provided the opportunity to give a small speech before receiving their degree. This is a great way to thank family and friends and talk about your APU experiences. A professional videographer will be helping us with creating and editing the video.
We know this not a substitute for the in-person event. Seeing our graduates walk across the stage, celebrate their educational achievements, and recognize the support of friends, faculty, staff, and family members is a high point for the APU community.
More information about the video will be sent out in the next few weeks. If you have any other questions please, contact the Registrar’s Office at 907-564-8210 or email us at regoff@alaskapacific.edu.
Quyana and good luck with the rest of your semester!
