APU’s main campus sits on 170 heavily wooded acres just a few miles from downtown Anchorage. Our campus includes academic facilities, residence halls, community gathering spaces, recreational facilities, winter and summer recreational trails, and magnificent views of the Chugach Mountains.
Main campus is situated in the UMed District of Anchorage and is adjacent to the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Alaska Native Medical Center, Providence Hospital, and the University of Alaska Anchorage. APU shares a consortium research library with UAA. Other buildings found on the APU Campus include the US Geological Survey and the Elmo Sackett Broadcast Center/Alaska Public Media.

We seek to honor this heritage with our commitment to place-based learning, celebration of community and tradition, and good stewardship of this land. Throughout campus, students and visitors alike will see and feel our commitment to honoring the Dena’ina people.
A Community Gathering Place
With the largest proportion of Alaska Native and American Indians of any city in the United States (per 2014 US Census), Anchorage is often referred to as “Alaska’s Largest Village”. APU is pleased to serve as a gathering place for community events that honor Alaska Native peoples and culture.
