After a stint in the United States Peace Corps as a small business volunteer, a few seasons commercial fishing in Dutch Harbor, building sustainable seafood tools for restaurants, and researching street food markets in West Africa, Rachael finally landed in Alaska. Early career exposure to resource-scarce economies taught her that a broad spectrum of solutions exists to solve those problems most noxious to society. She believes in consumer empowerment through education and increased access, and sees business as a tool to affect change.
Rachael’s diverse career path finally brought her in Anchorage, where she studies food systems and creative business models. Rachael teaches marketing, entrepreneurship, and innovation in both the undergraduate and MBA programs at Alaska Pacific University.
