Yanina (Yana) Valinske graduated from APU’s accounting program in 2010 and is already excelling at her career in banking! She is currently an HR specialist in payroll and benefits at First National Bank of Alaska. Yana loved studying at APU and truly believes in the active learning approach, noting that her education helped prepare her for a real life career. “The active learning approach,” Yana emphasises, “gives you the skills that are necessary in the real world. In some schools, you just memorize information and repeat it. At APU, you learn how to actively do research and how to figure things out, instead of just memorizing everything.” Yana has taken great initiative in applying the active learning approach from her APU education to her career, and we have no doubt that her insight and industriousness will lead to continued success!
