Here at APU, students enjoy many opportunities for experiential learning, such as Expedition Alaska (ExpAK). While the outdoor component of rafting down the Yukon observing Alaska’s natural environment is an important part of ExpAK, it is also a class and therefore involves classroom sessions, as well as a regular journal of scientific observations.
An APU student who attended ExpAK in 2015, and very talented artist, Anika Vojir, has shared some of the work she did for her ExpAK journal. She sketched various plants and animals she observed along the journey and took detailed notes on them as well. You can observe some selections from Anika’s inspiring Lewis-and-Clarke style journal in the photo gallery below. Also, if you, or anyone you know, is interested in attending APU and going on ExpAK this fall, you can read more about the expedition here.
