Thursday, a group of 7 APU students and our Assistant Director of Campus Life, Diego Donna, attended the 27th annual Anchorage Folk Festival! Students enjoyed performances from diverse groups, from a remarkably talented jazz band composed of high school students, to a large group of folk musicians that had only been playing together for 14 days prior to the festival! Some musicians were well-known, and others were fresh to the Anchorage music scene. The students attending enjoyed the festival, and were especially enthusiastic about a barber shop quartet style acapella group and the aforementioned jazz band.
The reviews are in! The festival was a “time to get folksy” according to Diego. A student named Logan calls the festival “a snowy good time”! Another student remarked that the festival reminded her of home.
Students who missed the festival trip will still have plenty of opportunities for fun activities with APU! Diego is planning an ice skating trip for this Friday!
