To get started with APU financial aid, students (and parents or spouse, if applicable) should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. The FAFSA is required to qualify for federal grants and loans, and is used to help determine scholarships and grants from APU. Some families are required to verify certain information provided on the FAFSA before our financial aid office can determine your eligibility.
FAFSA
The FAFSA is available starting October 1st for the following academic year. Complete your FAFSA at www.studentaid.gov several months before classes begin according to school-published deadlines. When prompted, use our school code:
APU’s FAFSA Code: 001061
Our financial aid office should receive the results of your FAFSA within three business days. You will also receive a summary of your information in your Student Aid Report. Some applications are selected for “Verification” – please see that section below.
It is important for you to check your APU email regularly. APU student email is our official communication link with all students. Examples of communications include:
- Request for verification documents
- Financial aid offer
- “To do” items to complete your financial aid – otherwise it will not process
- Eligibility notices
- Additional scholarship opportunities
