Moving Ideas!
When you want to combine creative thinking with practical skills, choose any of the Liberal Studies programs and put your talents to work. Whether your passion is in education, liberal studies, creative and professional writing, Alaska Native governance, or sustainability – whether you aim to improve the planet, solve problems for Alaska, or enhance well-being one person at a time in a classroom of your own – our programs provide direct pathways to meet your goals.
In each degree and concentration that we offer, you’ll take part in project-based learning. You’ll work with your academic adviser to develop an individualized degree plan, including making the most of transfer credits you’ve earned at other schools You’ll graduate with demonstrated ability in writing, speaking, critical thinking and inquiry – competencies needed today more than ever in an era of global challenges and opportunities. Our students not only earn degrees, they build resumes of professional skills.
We remain dedicated to the liberal arts heritage fostered by APU Founder Rev. Dr. Peter Gordon Gould, an Aleut minister born in Unga, Alaska. We honor the Alaskan and Alaskan Native communities from which APU was born and encourage students to achieve resilience, communicate clearly, solve problems creatively, and embrace lifelong learning.
In our programs, you’ll find peers and mentors who value the pursuit of knowledge and the perseverance it takes to bring ideas to life. Move with us!
