For the past twenty years, Steve has taught and directed programs in Outdoor and Environmental Education. He was a founding staff member of the NorthWest Service Academy—an Environmental Education focused National Demonstration Project—that helped launch AmeriCorps nationally.
He has also worked in corporate settings developing employee based sustainability initiatives and taught both outdoor leadership and environmental education in multiple regions of the United States as well as abroad in Scandinavia.
Steve’s research interests include place attachment, ecological identity, community mapping, and outdoor adventure health and wellness strategies.
