More than 50 local entrepreneurs eager for real-world advice gathered at APU for the annual Entrepreneurial Edge Speed Coaching and Boot Camp.
Held Feb. 23-24, Day 1 brought together entrepreneurs and business professionals for speed-coaching sessions. Each expert met one-on-one with an entrepreneur for 15 minutes before a bell went off, signaling time for entrepreneurs to move on to the next expert.
“It was a great day of musical chairs,” said Scott Fredrickson, APU professor of entrepreneurship and an event organizer.
Entrepreneurs learn to grow their businesses
First held in 2009, the event has been hosted by APU since 2012.
“Anchorage-area entrepreneurs and business leaders alike have come to look forward to the boot camp and coaching,” Fredrickson said. “APU’s commitment to hands-on learning makes us a natural fit.”
The weekend began with speed coaching led by a range of Anchorage-area professionals whose expertise is a foundation of business success. On hand were attorneys, accountants, web and mobile applications designers, as well as experts in information technology, advertising, finance and insurance.
Waiting for the bell to ring
Day Two featured speakers, sessions and workshops on basics including how to develop business ideas and opportunities and how to pitch business ideas. Topics also included emotional intelligence, finding capital, creating the venture, and achieving start-up success.
